Vipassana Centers
The summer camp is situated at the foot of two spectacular mountains, Xoroi and Ferrutx, and has a view on the bay of Alcudia and on the village Colonia de Sant Pere. The camp has upgraded facilities that meet the needs for a ten-day course with a capacity of 72 students.
Lanzarote splendidly opened his arms to Dhamma and, with the strength and warmth of this land, since 2009 it hosts meditators from all the Canary Islands, as well as anyone in the world. Located in the village of Nazareth, part of the town of Teguise, the "Nazareth House" presents a serene character, humble and integrated into the nature and idiosyncrasies that distinguish the fields on that island -- silence and stillness. Vipassana in the Canary Islands already has a considerable resonance and dissemination, and the affluence of the islands is increasing, and this is reason enough, that perhaps in the not too distant future, it will be possible to offer more than one 10-day course per year for the benefit of many. One-day and four-hour auto-courses have been regularly held in the Canary Islands on the islands of Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and sporadically on La Palma.
One-day and four-hour auto-courses are activities open only to old students, that is to say, to those who have completed at least one ten-day course with S.N. Goenka or one of the assistant teachers authorised by him.
The Northern England Vipassana Group is made up of old students of Vipassana Meditation (as taught by SN Goenka in the tradition of Sayaji U Ba Khin) who wish to see and contribute to the spread of Dhamma in the region. Regular monthly 1 day sittings / 1 day courses have been held for some time in Manchester, Leeds, and Todmorden. The group's first 3 day course, open to all old students, was conducted in April 2010 in a beautiful rural site in Lancashire. Since then the group have successfully held several further 3 and 10 day courses in the region.
Both three day and ten day vipassana courses are run at Castlehead, a field study centre, just outside Grange-Over-Sands between the southern edge of the Lake District and Morecambe Bay. In 2017 there will be two three day courses for old students in April and in August, and one ten day course in December for new and old students.
These Gypsy courses are held at SNMV college of Arts & Science during the III & IV th weeks of May every year during the summer vacations. Its about 15kms from Coimbatore Main Railway station. Coimbatore Samiti has been organizing atleast one 10 days Vipassana course every year since 1997. The summer vacation 10days course is being organized regularly every year at this SNMV college campus for the last 15 yrs. This campus has well established Hostel buildings for Male & Female accommodation. Enough large halls separately available for Male and Female students. A very peaceful silent ambience is available due to its remoteness from city and the greenery inside the campus. This place is also blessed with a fairly pleasant weather even during summer.
